Why did you choose the X-Pyr?
Because it is one of the biggest hike & fly races in the world.
What is your greatest sporting success?
I think the biggest success of people who do extreme sports is to return home healthy.
When and why did you start paragliding?
I started in 2007. It was my dream to fly.
What is your mountaineering experience?
I became a UIAA instructor in Turkey in 2012. I made the first ascent of over 40 traditional climbing routes.
What are your best and worst sporting memories?
My best moment was participating in the X-Alps. I don’t know my worst memory, I thought about it but I couldn’t find one.
Have you flown in the Pyrenees before? Do you have a favourite area?
No
Is there anything you like to see (or not) in the route?
I don’t know what can I say.
Apart from flying far and walking little, what will your strategy be during the race?
My strategy is to have fun during the race.
What does your typical training week consist of?
I try to hike every day, I go to the gym three days a week, I fly every day of the week.
What has been the hardest part of your race preparation so far?
I haven’t reached the most challenging part of the training yet. I will be challenged as the training intensity will increase in the future.
What excites you most about participating in the X-Pyr?
Waiting for the competition to start.
What worries you the most about the event?
I have so many questions in my head right now. But once the race starts, my mind will be very clear.
How do you know your assistant?
I know him well 🙂
What are your assistant’s main strengths?
He is really a reasonable man and I believe that he will support me physically and mentally.
What advice would you ask of the race veterans?
I would ask about the wind system in the Pyrenees.
