Why did you choose the X-Pyr?
It is a big challenge in my first year of hike and fly!
What is your greatest sporting success?
Winning the Niviuk Open in Ager
When and why did you start paragliding?
Nine to ten years ago because I am passionate about the world of aviation and I was fascinated by the idea of an aircraft that can be carried on your back.
What is your mountaineering experience?
Hikes and bivouacking in the Alps
What are your best and worst sporting memories?
The first flight in Chinchilla (Albacete), and the worst without doubt the loss of colleagues and friends.
Have you flown in the Pyrenees before? Do you have a favourite area?
Yes, the Panticosa area.
Is there anything you like to see (or not) in the route?
Aneto
Apart from flying far and walking little, what will your strategy be during the race?
It’s a long race, I will try not to start too hard and keep a bit of fitness for the whole week, in flight I will work on my patience as I don’t have much on days when conditions are weak.
What does your typical training week consist of?
Four cardio sessions and three strength sessions.
What has been the hardest part of your race preparation so far?
Running is something I’ve never liked, but if you have to do it, you do it!
What excites you most about participating in the X-Pyr?
The adventure of being able to choose which way to go and fly in the Pyrenees.
What worries you the most about the event?
The weather and getting injured.
How do you know your assistant?
Flying paragliders.
What are your assistant’s main strengths?
Mental support and route planning.
What advice would you ask of the race veterans?
How do you recover from a mental low?
