Why did you choose the X-Pyr again?
I am in love with the Pyrenees, and it is the best race that our area can have.
How was your race the last time?
The last time was in 2014, and it is the best thing I have done in my paragliding career.
What did you learn during the last edition?
To never stop hiking and flying. You can’t rest….
What does your typical training week consist of?
Has your training regime changed since the last X-Pyr?
A lot of hike & fly, combined with cycling and hours of flying!
What changes have you made to your equipment for this edition?
Renewing equipment, to go as light as possible.
Apart from flying far and walking little, what will your strategy be during the race?
To enjoy all the friends who will be cheering for me, and above all working well with my supporter. Pep is very good and I will listen to him at all times.
What excites you most about participating in the X-Pyr again?
Getting to the Cap de Creus and finishing the race!
What worries you the most about the event?
If there is bad weather and we can’t fly.
Is there anything you like to see (or not) in the route?
Aneto is the highest peak and it is always exciting to pass it.
Do you have a favourite part of the Pyrenees?
Everything that is flyable is my favourite part.
How do you know your assistant?
I have been flying with him for 25 years and we have a great friendship.
What are your assistant’s main strengths?
He is very relaxed, and adapts to any situation.
What advice would you give a rookie in this event?
Don’t get nervous before the race, train hard for the first part of the race, and optimise your equipment.
Anything else you like to comment?
See you in Hondarribia, good luck to all participants and good luck to the Pyrenees!!!
