Why did you choose the X-Pyr?
I chose the X-Pyr to discover new landscapes, have an unforgettable time and compete with the best in a longer race than I’m used to.

What is your greatest sporting success?
Boardairrace Series 2022 1st + winner of 2 events
Hike and fly Trophy Meran 2023 1st
Spießertrophy 2022 2nd
Eigertour Challenge 3rd
German XC – champion 2023
323 km FAI triangle from Nebelhorn
300 km FAI triangle with 34.8 km/h average

When and why did you start paragliding?
I started paragliding in 2018 after a good friend of mine got his license.

What is your mountaineering experience?
I grew up in the mountains and the mountains have been my playground since I was a child. My favorite thing to do is hike on old paths and lonely peaks where you have to find your way with good instinct and a keen eye. Steep ridges are a welcome challenge.

What are your best and worst sporting memories?
Closing the first 300 km FAI triangle starting in Germany was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime event. But even these experiences do not protect you from the effects of stress or a lack of balance. Experiencing that even the many hours of flying with incredible feelings of happiness don’t help if it becomes too much for the body and mind.

Have you flown in the Pyrenees before? Do you have a favourite area?
No, I have never been to the Pyrenees. Since I started competing, I’m constantly discovering new areas and I find that incredibly exciting. But it’s always special at home in the Allgäu.

Is there anything you like to see (or not) in the route?
I’ll take it as it comes, but I’m sure it will be interesting.

Apart from flying far and walking little, what will your strategy be during the race?
Have a good time, because everything is much easier with a positive mindset.

What does your typical training week consist of?
I mainly do hike & fly. In winter, depending on the snow conditions, I also go ski touring or cross-country skiing. But due to the lack of snow, you can climb the mountains on foot almost all year round. If it’s not possible to fly, I sometimes go cycling or running on the flat. I try to do 200,000 vertical meters per year.

What has been the hardest part of your race preparation so far?
Always lacking of time between work and everything else around.

What excites you most about participating in the X-Pyr?
To discover a new wild landscape that can be incredibly beautiful, but sometimes has difficult flying conditions.

What worries you the most about the event?
If the mood in the team changes to the bad side or I can’t fly due to too much wind, even though the weather is good.

How do you know your assistant?
He’s my brother.

What are your assistant’s main strengths?
He knows me very well, he was with me on all multi-day races and is a machine on the bike.

What advice would you ask of the race veterans?
If i want to know something, I ask directly. Advantages of today’s world😜

Without them, the X-Pyr wouldn't exist.
